More Information Seed Keeper and Plant Materials Assistant Fall 2023
This in-person volunteer will spend time assisting Allen Centennial Garden staff in harvesting, drying, cleaning, storing, and labeling seed materials collected in Allen Centennial Garden. Allen Centennial Garden will be hosting a festival this fall dedicated to exploring the diverse ways humans have celebrated the earth's abundance, especially Afro-diasphoric, Hmong, and Indigenous cultures. Each culture will be represented by culturally significant vegetable crops in the new Wyman Kitchen garden. These volunteers would support us in saving seeds from our kitchen garden and other gardens on our property. These seeds could be used in the harvest festival and beyond. For, seeds are valuable resources that are used for growing new plants and creating food, dye, fiber, and/or art. As an example, our volunteer might harvest tomatoes or dried up flowers. They would then clean these seeds in a process specific to that plant. These processes are varied and include fermenting and drying. The seed would be stored and labeled for later use. Volunteers should wear what is most comfortable to them to work outside when harvesting seed or inside when cleaning seed.

Girls Scouts of Wisconsin Badgerland
More Information Be a Girl Scout Program Leader for Kindergartners! Fall 2023
Love working with little kids? Girl Scouts of Wisconsin Badgerland launched a new program last year, exclusively for our littlest Girl Scouts...Grow with Daisies (formerly Daisies Activate)!!! Grow with Daisies is held monthly on the third Friday of the month at our Madison Leadership Center. It's an opportunity for Kindergartners to learn everything it means to be a Girl Scout as they start off on their journey, all while making new friends, participating in a fun activity, and earning a patch for their brand new vest. It's also an opportunity for parents and guardians to build community within Girl Scouts that will last a lifetime. Badger Volunteers will work independently and collaboratively with the Leadership Development Manager to create content and develop activities for each month's program, based on a different theme. This could be a craft, game, art project, etc. The program development will be done remotely during the "off-weeks" leading up to each month's program. All Grow with Daisies programs will take place at the Madison Leadership Center located at 4801 S. Biltmore Ln., Madison, WI 53718. Volunteers will then take a leadership role in running the activity and mentoring to a handful of middle school and high school Girl Scouts who also volunteer with us. Come be a reason girls look forward to Girl Scouts every month! Set the foundation for a lifetime of fun and friendship!
