Help to develop checkout resources for local Girl Scout leaders to check out and earn badges for their troops! The four pillars of Girl Scouts are: STEM, Entrepreneurship, Life Skills and the Outdoors. Girls earn badges by completing projects that align with the four pillars. We're looking for teams of volunteers to research, design and create hands-on activity kits (Badge-in-a-box) for local troop leaders to check out from our resource center and implement with their troops. This opportunity is great for college students studying education, psychology, youth development or a field in one of the four pillars. This opportunity takes place weekly at our Madison office: 4801 S. Biltmore Ln. You will receive weekly supervision and training on developing these resources. More Information Lunch Duty Leader Spring 2024 Ongoing Opportunities

Lunch duty leaders are to make sure that students are following cafeteria rules like being at an appropriate voice level, that they are sitting in their seats and at least trying the food, and that they are raising their hand and asking an adult to leave the lunchroom for water or to use the bathroom. They will also facilitate cleanup time where students will throw away their lunchtime garbage and wipe their tables clean before being able to go to recess. Lunch duty leaders are responsible for helping with recess and supervising play time for whichever grade they are responsible for. There is Lunch A (kinder through 2nd grade) and Lunch B (3rd-8th grade). Lunch A is from 11:00-11:40am and Lunch B is 11:45am-12:25pm. Lunch time lasts 20 minutes and recess time lasts 20 minutes. Lunch duty leaders are responsible for filling out behavior clipboards in the event of behavioral issues or conflicts during lunch or recess and communicating with the classroom teacher that comes to pickup their students. Lunch duty leaders may also be asked to help with cleanup of the cafeteria after students have resumed classes.

POSITION SUMMARY: Join the Kids Café Volunteer Team & assist staff with cooking healthy and nutritious meals for elementary, middle and high school-aged students participating in afterschool programming at the Lussier Community Education Center. Volunteers prepare meals for students on Mondays and Fridays during the academic year. HOURS: 4-8 hours/week, beginning September 9, 2022 (time dependent on number of shifts per week) Mondays 1:30 PM – 5:30 PM Fridays 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Following a pre-made meal plan, prepare and serve the dinner meal to 50-70 students. 2. Following the meal, clean kitchen. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS 1. Experience preparing meals for large numbers of people. 2. Ability to work collaboratively with people of all ages and from diverse backgrounds. 3. Mature attitude, creativity, resourcefulness, and a positive role model for youth. 4. Understanding and appreciation of socio-economically, ethnically and culturally diverse populations. 5. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

More Information Field Trip and Lab Assistant Spring 2024 Ongoing Opportunities

Be a part of the field trip programming at the Discovery Building by helping to facilitate science activities for K-12 students in school groups. Assist in leading field trips on a variety of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) topics and help to prepare for field trips. Training and teaching support will be provided. On dates when Field Trip groups are not scheduled, BV's will assist the Morgridge Community Engagement team in tasks related to science event preparation and lab management. Duties include routine cleaning and organizing the lab and storage spaces, restocking and organizing science activity kits and materials, preparing for future activities, working with other volunteers and support staff, and other tasks as assigned. Training and support will be provided. Occasionally, shifts will be located at local community schools or will involve walking with students to other campus buildings. Transportation process and locations will be communicated accordingly.

More Information Pantry Session Assistant Spring 2024 Ongoing Opportunities

• Pack boxes, including shelf-stable boxes, produce boxes, and dairy boxes, with various items (lists of items to be included will be provided). • Sort incoming donations in order to make packing boxes more efficient. This may include meat, dairy, produce, shelf-stable items, eggs, etc. • Add food items to shopping carts. This is done as clients visit and fill out a menu of requested items. Our volunteers take each menu and fill the order, then return the filled cart to the correct client's vehicle. • Load client cars outside as they visit the pantry. This includes rolling full shopping carts outside, packing trucks or backseats with the items, being respectful and welcoming to the clients as they shop, and bringing empty carts back inside to be re-packed. PLEASE NOTE: We ask that you be flexible in moving between tasks as needed. Staff will always be available to answer questions.

More Information Food Pantry Clean Team Spring 2024 Ongoing Opportunities

Join WayForward to improve the food and housing stability of community members throughout Dane County! No previous experience is needed. Under the direction of WayForward Resources' Food Access Managers, you will join other volunteers to keep our facility a food safe and dignified place for our donors, volunteers, and shoppers. As a member of the Clean Team this semester, you will help with general cleaning (sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, etc.) in our food pantry and warehouse including the walk-in coolers and freezers. This is a physically active role. You may learn to use a pallet jack, move boxes of food, and will be on your feet throughout your volunteering. Of course, safety comes first - team lifting and breaks are encouraged, as needed.
