Also, as our instruction is all virtual at this point, the Language Tutor needs to be comfortable with tutoring students who may choose to not show themselves on camera, as we cannot require the students to do so. Though not required, it would be great if tutors were able to come to their session with either a loosely structured lesson or practice activity that's appropriate for the student's proficiency level and interest.
All Badger Volunteers opportunities are completely virtual for the spring 2021 semester. Please disregard any transportation requirements because all opportunities are virtual and the dashboard has some functions that point to transportation even when we are not utilizing them this semester.
All Badger Volunteers are required to attend an orientation, facilitated by the Badger Volunteers Executive Board, prior to volunteering. To attend an orientation, access the Zoom links here - https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1pPdHUVZGodhVKFelfO1l64bjXfYjfpwE4ezenTxELyw/edit?usp=sharing
No registration is required for the orientations, but you need to attend one during the week of February 1 through 5.
Language Tutors will be asked to join us on either Mondays and/or Thursdays to tutor and or help our students practice and hone their reading, listening, speaking, and writing skills in their language of study. *The 1st and 3rd Mondays of each month are dedicated to cultural activities and therefore tutors will not be needed on these two days of the month.
The mission of the Facilitated Language Study course at East High is to provide students the space, resources, and opportunity to dedicate themselves to the study of a foreign language not currently offered as a traditional class. As a result, FLS is always looking for available tutors who could provide opportunities for our students to practice and hone their skills in their language of study.
