Be a Leader for a Girl Scout Community Troop!

Girls Scouts of Wisconsin Badgerland

Lead our future leaders! We are looking for Community Troop Leader Teams to make a difference and support our Girl Scouts in their leadership development journey! As a Community Troop Leader Team, you’ll be part of introducing girls to new experiences that show them they’re capable of more than they ever imagined. Girl Scout volunteers are imaginative, committed and dynamic! These opportunities focus on serving our underserved and under-resourced Girl Scouts through partnerships with schools, youth-serving organizations and other community organizations. The Council will partner each Badger Volunteer team with a community leader to lead fun activities and earn badges with troops grades K-12. DATES/TIMES: Meetings take place on weekdays after school. Many sites have some flexibility on the times and days of the week the troops meet. Meetings typically run 1-2 hours which includes setup, meeting, tear-down and planning for the next meeting. ***Please note that the 3:30- 6 PM timeframe listed is a window with some wiggle room within. We will work with you to find a 1- 2 hour set time that works with your schedule on the day you sign up for. The Partnership & Volunteer Manager will reach out to Badger Volunteer teams directly to confirm the days and times of commitment.*** DAYS & MEETING LOCATIONS: We are anticipating running Community Troops at the following locations for the Spring 2023 semester: - Mondays: Theresa Terrace Neighborhood Center, 1409 Theresa Terrace, Madison, WI (K-5, mixed grade troop) -Tuesdays: Elver Park Neighborhood Center, 1201 McKenna Blvd., Madison, WI (older girls troop) - Wednesdays: Elver Park Neighborhood Center (younger girls troop, grades K-5) - Thursdays: Kromrey Middle School, 7009 Donna Dr., Middleton, WI (middle school aged troop) TRAINING: Council staff will support the Badger Volunteers with clear instructions and expectations to run meetings and help girls earn badges. We will provide curriculum and resources, through orientation and training that can be done online. The Partnership & Volunteer Manager will work with Badger Volunteers to orient them to the troop and site leaders that they'll be reporting to weekly. The Girl Scouts of Badgerland are ready to explore STEM (science, technology, engineering and math), civic engagement, the outdoors, life skills and entrepreneurship. Come share your talents, skills and expertise - join the movement to build girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place!
